About Me

Hi there!👋🏾

I’m Dahlia, a communications professional from Long Island, based in NYC. Helping brands convey their authentic voice and connect with audiences is a passion of mine. My most recent role as grant writer for BLK + GRN, a black owned marketplace allows me further cultivate this passion.

As a staunch advocate for diversity and inclusion, I always look forward to opportunities where I can integrate core values with my communications background. I look forward to working in diverse industries and thriving in new environments with my open mind and growth mindset!

Why Communications?

When asked this question, three words immediately come to mind: VERSATILITY ADAPTABILITY CREATIVITY

I proudly graduated summa cum laude in May 2023 from Rutgers University, earning a degree in Communication. I specialized in Public Relations and minored in Africana Studies.

Douglass College, a women's residential community at Rutgers, played a pivotal role in my journey. Through Douglass, I was fortunate to have the following experiences, roles, and awards:

  • Diversity Equity & Inclusion Ambassador

  • Global Village Program Ambassador (Spotlight student)

  • Christina Foglio Conference Non-Profit Panel Moderator

  • Reilly BOLD Program Extern

  • Recipient of the Jewel Plummer Cobb Award for Outstanding Senior

  • Recipient of the Emily Hickman Award for Contribution to World Understanding

I’ve acquired a skillset that transcends industry boundaries! Effective communication is foundational for most careers. Through my journey, I learned how to navigate group settings with my interpersonal skills, resolve conflict, devise audience engagement strategies based on data-driven insights and social trends, and much more. I am eager to contribute to the success of my future work environments with my skills and openness to learn!
